Garage Conversion & Bar Area Update Glen Osmond

For this project, the client came to us with a bold brief: transform an underutilised garage and adjoining shed into a fully functional living space—including a bar area, guest bedroom, home office, and a new bathroom—while preserving some of the home’s original 1980s character.

To bring it all together, we began by re-roofing the entire house, ensuring the structure was watertight and ready for the changes ahead.

Inside, we updated the downstairs bar area, carefully retaining its retro charm. The original 1980s wallpaper, timber-clad walls, and classic green benchtop were all kept intact, blending nostalgia with new functionality. We then cleverly sectioned off part of the bar to create a guest bedroom, complete with a hidden door for a bit of fun and privacy.

The adjoining shed was converted into a fully self-contained bathroom, turning what was once a basic storage space into a practical and comfortable addition to the home. We also split the original garage, transforming one section into a dedicated home office and creating a new entrance that gave the space its own identity and improved access.

This job was all about making the most of what was already there—reimagining old spaces with a mix of practicality, comfort, and a respectful nod to the home’s unique style. A great example of how you can repurpose underused areas into something truly special.
